Enrolment

Day 62: Thursday 6 April

Enrolment is not about forcing, cajoling, tricking, bargaining, pressuring, or guilt tripping. Enrolment is the art and practice of generating a spark of possibility for others to share.

The Art of Possibility

In my research today I came across the above quote. It reminded me that at the heart of all my work is enrolment. Whether that’s engaging people in coaching or workshops through to the way I’m marketing what I do. It’s all about enrolment .

My first step is to enrol architects in my work. Finding that possibility that resonates that they want to engage in and seek out. The next step is to help them enrol others in the same journey. This is the work of creating and changing the culture.

Seth Godin has created an experimental AI chatbot based upon all his writing from his blog. For fun I thought I’d see what it had to say on the subject.

What advice can you give about enrolling people in your vision?

To enroll people in your vision, it’s important to first acknowledge that your job is to turn naive, fearful new prospects into confident spreaders of word of mouth. This means that you need to educate them, be transparent, and build trust.

One effective tactic is to run a school, either online or offline, where you can educate people about your vision and how it can benefit them. You can also be transparent by telling them about your competitors and giving them a list of questions to ask.

Another important aspect of enrollment is building a community. By putting people in a room with others who are facing the same challenges, they can gain trust in you and your vision.

Ultimately, it’s important to remember that enrollment is about mutual alignment. When people are committed to a similar destination, management becomes more like coaching, and teams are more likely to look for signposts of progress. By focusing on building relationships and creating a shared sense of purpose, you can enroll people in your vision and create a team that is resilient, cooperative, and committed.
